The most current, up to date, COVID 19 response information can be found on the
Ohio Department of Health's web page.
We are continuously updating our COVID 19 procedures. At this point the processes we have tried to think outside the box are listed below.
Let us start with the good news, before we get into the changes for 2020. We want to let you know about a special we are going to run through June 30. Camp any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday for $20 per night per camping unit - that is one tent or RV. No charge for kids but additional adults are $10 per adult per night.
2020. Due to COVID 19 we do have some changes that we have had to implement this year. If you have any questions, please email us immediately.
Pizza, firewood and ice delivery will continue as before. All pizza, firewood and ice deliveries must be PRE-PAID before delivery can be made. If you want to use a credit card for payment you will still need to come up to The Landing and pay prior to the order. You still call 419-994-4024 to place an order. We will need Your full name & Campsite # to complete the order.
Our ice cream shop is still open waiting for you to come up to The Landing and place an order. We will still have chips, beer, pop, and water available.
As many of you remember we had started a remodel at The Landing last year. Things will be different as you will need to order from a window and delivery of items will be through windows or doors. All orders will be taken through our new windows. Please bear with us in this new way of doing business. Ordering ice cream will be like your neighborhood ice cream stand where you do not go inside.
Smith’s Campground utilizes Mohican Adventures River Report for use of our Landing. If their river report is RED there is no launching or landing on our property. We all know how crazy it gets on Saturday morning for canoeing. We ask that you click on the link for canoeing and print the Canoe Release PDF and fill it out prior to coming to The Landing to reserve your time slot. Remember 10 and under are only Free if they are in the middle of 2 paying people in a canoe. If they are sitting in a paddling position in a kayak, canoe or in a tube you must pay for them. We will still take individual payments for groups as we have done in the past, BUT you CAN NOT reserve a time slot until the ticket has been paid in full. ONLY TICKETS PAID IN FULL WILL BE GIVEN A BUS TIME.
Mohican Adventures is the only canoe livery that will be offering trips from our campground. If you want a 15-mile trip (Trip #2) We can still sign you up but you will need to drive up there because this is an upriver trip back to their livery. The 6 1/2 - 7 mile trip (Trip #1) is the ONLY one that lands back here.
TRIP #1 – $25 per person (2 person minimum charge per canoe)
TRIP #2 – $33 per person (2 person minimum charge per canoe)
RATES: Rates are based on a minimum of two people per canoe, which is ideal. Children 10 and under are free when riding with two other paying persons in the same canoe (maximum 2 adults and 2 small children). Sales tax of 7.0% is not included in rates
Your own personal watercraft - tubes, kayaks, canoes, rafts. Our Landing at the beginning of Wally Road has been leased to another canoe livery for commercial use only. You will need to go to the state park at St Rt 3 & 97 to launch your equipment, you can also leave a vehicle there OR you can launch from the campground and paddle down river to Greer. You can leave a vehicle in Greer. This property is owned and operated by the Knox County Park District. This is also a 7-mile trip but it takes about 2-3 hours due to the river being calmer & flatter. There is less river traffic and is a much more peaceful trip. We highly recommend taking this trip as there is more opportunity of seeing wildlife and you will not be in the middle of the craziness of a Saturday on the Mohican River.
2021 reservations we are no longer taking reservations for 2021 at this time.
We know that change is hard for everyone. We have had to think outside the box in how to safely operate. We all know that COVID 19 is not going to be gone come June 1, July 1, Aug 1 or even Sept 1. Social distancing is something we are going to have to deal. With some of our family and guests being high risk, we have had to think outside the box and implement changes to protect everyone. If you have any questions please email us and ask! We look forward to seeing you this summer.
